    Image Mapping

Main >> Tutorials >> Paint Shop Pro >> Image Mapping

image mapping is when you make parts of a layout links. you can use this instead of having a menu underneath your layout. This has become very popular lately.

Step 1: The first thing you have to do is to make a layout with names of the pages you want to have. I've made this layout which I use as a menu:

Step 2: Go to Fil >> Export >> Image mapper. A new window will appear.

Step 3: Use the Rectangle tool, which looks like this: , to mark the first pagename on the layout, like I've done underneath.

Step 4: For every pagename you have to fill out the cell properties. Here's what the different things is:
URL: here you paste the URL-adress to the page you want the text to link to.
ALT TEXT: When you hold the cursor over the text a little while a little "textbox" will apear with the page name on. if you choose to let it say the pagename.
TARGET: This is how you want the link to appear. If you let it stand blank it opens as any normal links, but if you write _BLANK, the link will open in a new window. I have chosen to let it be blank.

Step 5: When you've done the first page, you just have to select the Rectangle tool again and mark the next pagename on the layout. Continue on with the rest of the pages aswell.

Step 6: Are you finished marking all the texts, and filling out the cell properties? If so, choose the file you would like to save the picture as, I usually save it as a jpeg-file. Now click save to clipboard... Then choose a suiting place to save the picture.

Step 7: Now you have to go to your website. Just click Ctrl + V or right click and choose paste. The whole code for your image mapping will appear. The only thing left is to add the right layout.

Step 8: Upload the layout you just saved. Paste the URL inside the code where it says: src="blablablabla....jpg". You have to paste the URL between these "here" in the code. just erase the other URL that's already there.

Step 9: When the rightn URL is pasted in the code, your menu is done. Here's how mine turned out:
