Blend
If you're ever going to start making layouts, blending is a very important thing to know how to do. It i actually very easy when you first know how. If you practise you'll get better, you can't expect the first blends to be perfect.
Step 1: To start with, find atleast two pictures you want to blend together. Open both pictures in Paint Shop Pro. Here are the two pictures I'm going to blend:
Step 2: Now you have to get the pictures in one dokument. To do this open a new dokument by clicking on this symbol:
. Then choose a size which big enough for both pictures to fit in. You can se the size of the pictures in the bottom right corner. Because my pictures are 200x300 I will make the new dokument around 400x300. This gives me a little more space to work on.
Step 3: Then copy one picture at a time with the pan tool, which looks like this:
. You do this by first rightclicking on the first picture and choose 'copy', then rightclick on the new dokument and choose paste > paste as a new layer. Do exactly the same with the other picture. To move the pictures around use the Move tool, which looks like this:
. Put one of the pictures a little bit over the other one (the part you want to blend together). Here's mine with both pictures in the same dokument.
Step 4: If you look at the layer pallett, you'll see that there is three layers there, the first one is the background, while the two next are your pictures. If you click on the layer on the top you can see which one of the pictures it is. When you are on one layer, you can only change that one, if you want to do something with the other pucture, you have to click on the pictures layer first (did you get that??? this is very important..). Then use the eraser tool, which looks like this:
, on the layer on the top, remove only the part that is over the other picture. Put the 'hardness' of the eraser tool down to 0, and the opacity at 30%. Here's how mine looks after I've removed that part:
Step 5: When that is done, you are actually finished, the pictures have been blended together! Congratulation;) The only thing left is to add some decoration to the picture. Use text, brushes or other effects you like. Here's my finished blend:
