Website Tips
Typing: please don't type LiKe ThIs! It doesn't look good and people can't read it. Type normal, it's much easier to read! The trick is to write with correct grammer it looks so much better. People would want to know what it says instead of guesing.
Also don't use big fonts, it looks more unorganized. Font size around 10 I think looks nice. Small fonts looks great.
Pictures: Imagine a website without any pictures... That would be boring. But don't exaggerate! Don't use to many glitter pictures it's distracting and doesn't look good. The site will also not look that organized. If you're going to put a pictuire on a page, make sure the background matches the pictures background.
Naming the site: When you're going to give your site a name, try to think of something unique, something not everyone else has. Something that suites the site, maybe a name that goes with the content. Try to avoid long names, people woun't remember it, also try to avoid xoxoxo's it can be a little bit to much some times, ex. x0x0-pink-princess-of-darkness-x0x0!
I know my sitename is not much to brag about, but atleast it is easy to remember. The clue when naming your page is to come up with a fancy name which is easy to remember.
Border & Scrollbars: This is something most websites should have! But don't go over the top! Remember to make it match the rest of the page. You shouldn't like have a purple scrollbar, a blue border and a orange background, that doesn't look good! And try to avoid a blinking scrollbar, that is so distracting!
Content: The main reason people visit websites is because thay need inspitation and stuff for their own site. So make a 'visitor content' page and put out stuff like HTML-codes, layouts etc. It is even better if you make your own graphics. Be sure all the sites are well organized, then it's easier to navigate around the pages.
Be original: You have to be original when you're making webpages. Don't copy other sites! I know I get very mad when people copy from my website. Why does anyone want to enter a website they have already visited? Use your own ideas, that's what people like! Try to come up with something new that you haven't seen on any other site!
Be respectfull: If people come to your site and takes time to check it out and write in the guestbook. The least thing you can do is to do the same. If you don't write in their guestbooks, just take a look at their sites, maybe you'll be surprised. I know I'm not good at this! I ALWAYS visite websites to people who ask me to check out their websites, but I'm nor always writing in the guestbook. Sorry, but I want you to know that I look at your sites:)
Update often: Try to update as much as possible. When you visit a site you visited some weeks before and it hasn't updated anything, thar's boring. When you update often you'll see that the same people will visit your site more often. I have visitors that comes to my site more then once a day. That's good!:) I try to update it every day!
